TCI Update: Coaching for Trainers

Description

Participants will learn the importance of a collaborative and developmentally focused mindset and creating a safe learning environment conducive to learning new skills, taking risks, and receiving feedback. Understanding and consideration of the stages of skill development will help participants to determine when and how to apply effective coaching techniques.  All participants are tested with written and competency-based tests to apply for re-certification.

It is suitable for TCI7, TCIS2 and TCIF4 trainers to attend.

Participants will be able to:

  • Define coaching
  • Describe the role of coaching in the TCI Theory of Change
  • Assess personal views and experiences with coaching
  • Describe a coaching mindset
  • Discuss the impact a coaching mindset has on the learner
  • List the skills coaches need
  • Demonstrate effective coaching techniques
  • Choose to use a coaching mindset when training TCI skills
  • Practice TCI physical intervention skills
